Marathon Update

Mitchell's version of the Marathon:

I finished. It was not pretty but I did cross the line.

Tina, Austin, Collin & Hope's version of the Marathon (otherwise known as the right version):

Considering the week leading up to the Marathon he did AWESOME! We are so proud of him. We cheered him on as he got stuck about a hundred yards back with leg cramps. As he started his approach to the finish line the crowd in an uproar cheered him on. We were so proud of him when he crossed that line no matter how ugly it was. We didn't think it was ugly at all. Believe me if you saw some of the way these people crossed the line you would agree (ex. getting carried off on stretchers, barfing ..... you get the hint).

Anyway, if you haven't gotten the hint we are very proud of him. He says never again but I'll let you know in about a month :-) By the way, he ran 26.2 miles in 4 hours 1 minute and 19 seconds.

Here are some pictures from the day.

"I can see I have legs"

In the words of Navin R. Johnson
"I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now."
Okay it's not the phone book, but it is the 30th annual Free Press Marathon booklet found in Thursdays Free Press. My name is on page 18R last column (just in case you are looking for it.)
I am cautiously optimistic for this years marathon. After last years total let down, I was hoping for a much better race this year. I just got out of Dr. Beaman's office (best doctor in the world.) The pain I have been feeling in my left knee is NOT ligament damage or anything that I could make worse by running on Sunday. I was sooooo nervous that my bp was 20 points higher than my norm.
by the way Navin R Johnson is the charater that Steve Martin plays in "The Jerk"
